The Clifton Team’s Favourite Pieces

6bethanThe Clifton team is full of creative characters, and there’s nothing we like better than a good design show. A little time out of the office and some exposure to the latest trends and innovations keeps us all inspired and enthusiastic, so a few weeks ago we made a trip (or several) to Clerkenwell Design Week and it didn’t disappoint. CDW is a leading design festival located in the creative hub of Clerkenwell, and is held from 20th to 22nd May every year and incorporates over 60 showrooms for suppliers from the local area.

While the design element of the festival is it’s most important aspect, we’re a sociable bunch here at Clifton and have to admit that in the weeks leading up to the show some considerable time was spent mulling over our best party invites and planning our week around them! The highlight of the parties this year was without a doubt Benchmark’s 30th anniversary barbecue, featuring sausages made from pigs reared by Benchmark’s MD Sean (we were a little squeamish at first, but one simply can’t argue with a super tasty sausage bun on a warm English Spring evening).

Since we all came away from the festival inspired and refreshed (and a little over-fed), we thought we’d bring you a favourite piece from each of the Clifton team. Enjoy!

Philly’s Favourite: ‘Float Table’ by Pinch

Philly says: ‘Whilst the tables were inspired by fishing floats, they remind me of Cluedo counters! They’re really playful and tactile.’

Shirley’s Item: Marble Pendant by Terence Woodgate

Shirley says: ‘I loved these small, elegant pendant lights in Carara marble for their simplicity. I thought they would be perfect as bedside pendants or to suspend above an armchair for reading.’

Maria’s Item: Convex mirror by Ochre

Maria says: ‘I love the interesting shape of this piece and it’s timeless quality. And it reminds me of The Arnolfini Portrain by Jan Van Eyck, which is one of my favourite paintings.’

Behtan’s Item: The Joyce Sideboard by Pinch and the new vanity unit by Se London (yet to be officially launched)

Bethan says: ‘For both it was the craftsmanship of that I was drawn to. The simplicity of their shapes, their choice of colour and material and the elegance of both pieces were big factors.’

We had a wonderful week at Clerkenwell Design Week and we hope you’ve enjoyed seeing all our most wanted pieces. Which is your favourite?
